There was definitely an Easter treat Sunday, April 19th for everyone who needed the concert-like setting at Westward Look. The Statesboro Blues Band warmed up their hometown crowd. Then famed bluesman, Sam Taylor took to the stage.
Little did
people know what to expect from Taylor and the Blues boys. The band,
complete with Taylor as a member, hadn’t played outside of the Chicago Bar for
some time. Sam Taylor’s flamboyance, charm, and dedication to the music
came shining through like a beacon in a storm. Taylor not only plays,
but also sings. His history proves that he is a landmark in rock ‘n roll
history having penned over 136 songs. His songs have been recorded by the Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and the Isley Brothers. During the 1950’s, Taylor was the band orchestra leader for the popular Motown acts of that time. Taylor is “big chill music.” Sam Taylor and the Statesboro Blues Band left the audience hungry for more after playing three lengthy sets of fine R&B and blues. This month, Taylor and the Statesboro Blues will be performing at the Brewery in Bisbee May 15th and 16th, Gentle Ben’s on May 22nd and 23rd and at the Chicago Bar on May 29th & 30th.
